A CHURCH FOR 2024 AND BEYOND
High Street Methodist Church has always worked to communicate the love of God to our local community and beyond.
We have exciting plans to re-shape our main space to allow us to continue to do so in even better and wider ways.

Unlocking Space
Opening up flexibility in the church
The project aims to unlock the huge potential of our main church space. To achieve this, new seating will be provided in the main area of the church using modern, comfortable, light-weight chairs that can be moved and repositioned easily and quickly. This will enable our main church space to be configured to support any event, or activity that we have for mission.
Different layouts can be used for different services, and for those larger-scale activities like children’s or youth events, or conferences or carnivals all the chairs can be cleared to open up the building.
Let There Be Light
Updating the church lighting
As with most areas of technology, lighting design has come a long way since our current lights were installed in the church. We’ve taken advice from other churches and lighting specialists to design a brand new system that will be flexible to meet the different needs that our worship services and general events demand. New energy-efficient and totally controllable light fittings along with custom-made window blinds will mean we can change the atmosphere in the church easily to suit different needs.
The front of the church, where those leading worship stand, is currently the darkest point of the church. The new lighting will make this area a focal point and is designed to work well both on-site and with our live stream cameras. A new control system means everyone will be able to control the lighting for the whole church at the push of a button.
Improve and Repair
Improving the infrastructure of the building
While we are working on the church, we have a great opportunity to improve and repair some parts of the space. For example repairing and renewing the parquet floor, repairing broken and worn parts of the dais, and widening one of our fire exits to improve safety and capacity.
BE A PART OF IT
These are ambitious and exciting plans, but they can only be a reality with your help.
We need to raise £150,000
The project represents a significant investment and the total cost of the project is expected to be around £275,000, however we are able to get grants for quite a bit of the work, which means that as a church community we need to raise around £150,000 ourselves.
We are looking to raise this amount now so that we can get the project underway as soon as possible. Any amount of support you can give us will be gratefully received.
These plans support the work and mission of God not only in our church building, but through our new online activities, throughout our community - and beyond.
