Project Update 4

Work has continued apace since our last update two weeks ago.

Floor

The original wooden parquet flooring has been sanded down to reveal it's true colours. With the dust out of the way, the floor will stay like this for a few weeks now as other messy jobs are completed, before being sealed and varnished. The final colour will be noticably lighter than we were used to - with countless years of grime and layers of varnish removed. The floor will give the church a lighter feel all by itself. 

Lighting

Work has now started on one of the bigger jobs in the project - the removal of the old lighting system and installation of new fittings and associated electrical works. Our lighting contractors have already remarked that they have been removing at least three 'generations' of electrical cable - some probably as old as the building.

Stewards past and present will no doubt already be celebrating the removal of the old, confusing light switch panel. It will be replaced with a simple button panel of presets - meaning different lighting states are simply a tap away - with just one 'off' button!
