SHARE appeal
SHARE is a High Street initiative that aims to help those in our community who are most in need.
This includes emergency help with food and other essentials as well as special appeals, particularly during the school holidays: crafts and activities, funded holiday club places and supermarket vouchers.
On an ongoing basis we can face situations needing our immediate help and funds are always welcome for these occasions. For this reason donations to SHARE will be welcome throughout the year.
If you have any questions you can contact the church office.
summer Share Launch Appeal 2026
As summer approaches, many of us look forward to the school holidays, making plans to get away, visit family and friends, or simply enjoy days out.
However, for some families, these small pleasures are just not possible. For them, what should be a time of memory-making is a time of just greater hardship.
This summer we want to make a difference. That’s why we are appealing for funds for a Summer Share Appeal aiming to support families in our community in the following key ways:
Access to Summer Holiday Clubs
Working in partnership with two local schools, we have identified a number of children who may otherwise spend the summer without meaningful opportunities to play, learn and socialise. We would love to fund places for these children at their schools' local summer holiday clubs, giving them the chance to enjoy a safe, fun and stimulating environment this summer holidays. With your support, we can make this happen.
Support for Families at Home
We will provide food vouchers and craft items to help local families already known to us ease some of the additional financial burden of the summer holidays. We also intend to run some family craft days, giving children enjoyable activities to do while providing parents with encouragement and support.
The Church would not to be able to offer this support without you.
The more we raise, the more children we can help enjoy the kind of summer many of us take for granted.
Our Summer SHARE Appeal will only be running until Sunday 19 July and we would be incredibly grateful if you could donate—no matter how big or small. If you’re able, please consider adding Gift Aid, as this makes your donation go even further.
You can give online via the button above or send a cheque to the Office, payable to ‘Harpenden Methodist Church’, marking the envelope ‘Summer SHARE’.
Thank you for helping make this summer happier and more memorable for local children and families who need it most. This is really appreciated.
