Treasurer
Might you be our next Treasurer?
Our current Treasurer has been in post for seven years and wishes to retire by the end of 2026 on completion of the 2025/26 statutory accounts.
Having been unsuccessful in identifying a qualified accountant within the church community to take on this crucial role, Church Council have decided that we have no alternative but to outsource the accounts function. Caladine, a firm of certified accountants in Eastbourne who prepare the accounts on QuickBooks for a number of churches including another large church in Harpenden, have been selected. This removes the need for the next Treasurer to be a qualified accountant but they do need to be financially literate.
The Church Treasurer will retain overall responsibility for the Church’s financial affairs, reporting on the financial results to members and sub-committees, preparing budgets and long-term plans, etc. This is an essential role and, if not filled, the Church would be unable to continue to operate as a charity.
If you feel you could contribute to the smooth running of High Street Methodist Church in this way and would like to volunteer for this role, please contact Rev Mark Hammond.
