Do you speak 'Christianese'?

Never heard of it? It’s a strange language, which many find difficult to decipher, commonly found amongst populations of church-goers the world over. It is heavily reliant on the use of words that, whilst full of meaning and spirituality for those who use them, can mean surprisingly little to those who are not well versed in this peculiar language.

In church, you may routinely hear words such as ‘sin’, ‘salvation’, and ‘grace’ but how often are these words used in wider society? And, come to think of it, even if you’re well versed in church life and have used the words yourself - how often do you stop and think about what they might truly mean?

For the next four Sundays, we are taking four such words and taking a ‘deep-dive’ into their meaning for us in 2024.

On 14 April, Mark is preaching on ‘Church’ using Acts 2: 42-47
21 April, Lewis will look at ‘Grace’ using Ephesians 2: 1-10
28 April Mark tackles ’Sin’ using 1 John 1:5 - 2:2
5 May Mark explores ’Salvation’ using Philippians 2: 3-13
