Mere Evangelism

Do you enjoy and gain inspiration from CS Lewis’ books? If so, you may find this book, which is sub-titled ’10 insights from CS Lewis to help you share your faith’, enjoyable and informative.  Randy Newman, who works at the CS Lewis Institute in Washington DC, considers both Lewis’s radio talks and books and writes for personal benefit, rather than group discussion.

Helpfully Newman locates Lewis within the secular world of the second half of the 20th century, showing how Lewis approached his communication. Lewis’s values shine through; they included preparing the way for the good news, honouring objectors, understanding where objections came from, while at the same time challenging their objections. Furthermore, Newman shows the price Lewis paid for his views.

This book is timely and thought provoking as we consider the challenges we all face in experiencing the good news of Jesus.
