Summer SHARE
As summer approaches many of us start to look forward to the school holidays and are making plans to get away, to visit family and friends and for days out.
For some families all of these activities are not a reality. A time that is for many about making memories for others is a time of hardship particularly during the current cost of living crisis. Our Summer Share appeal aims to help in three ways.
We will again be working in partnership with a local school where many of the children who receive free school meals lack activities to undertake during the holidays. The school have asked if we can fundraise and, with their guidance, provide activity bags for the children.
The school has also identified a number of children they are most concerned about having very little stimulation during the holidays. They have therefore asked if we can help these children to enjoy a summer holiday club.
The third element of our appeal will be used to provide craft and food bags to a number of families, known to us, who will struggle over the summer weeks.
We are pleased to be able to help local children and families most in need. However, none of this can happen without your help. The more we raise the more children can spend more of their summer holiday having the fun many of us take for granted.
Our Summer Share appeal will run until 5 July and we would ask you to please give generously to help us help those in our community most in need. You can either donate online or send a cheque to the Church Office payable to ‘Harpenden Methodist Church’ marking your envelope ‘Summer Share’.
Your support for this appeal is very much appreciated.
