Getting to Know... Rebecca Jackson-Robbins
This week we have asked Rebecca Jackson-Robbins, another of our new Stewards to tell us more about themselves.
I have been part of High Street since 2010, attending with my husband, Kelvin, and our three children — Ciara, Toby, and Theo — who are regulars at the LX Youth group during the 9:15 service.
Outside of church life, we love spending time outdoors — going on family bike rides or walking in the Chilterns and surrounding countryside. After many years as a primary school teacher, I now work for an educational psychology service.
My faith journey began in a Catholic family and was encouraged by a vibrant youth group in my church growing up. During my teenage years, I was also part of several multi-denominational Christian youth groups with school friends, all of which played an important role in shaping my faith. I have always appreciated a variety of worship styles and this was one of the things that drew Kelvin and I to feel at home at High Street.
Kelvin has been serving as a steward at High Street for the past five years, and I’ve seen how fulfilling and meaningful it has been for him. Now that our children are older and I have a bit more capacity and space in my week, I feel ready to take on more responsibility and give back to the church that has given so much to us.
I’m excited (and a little nervous!) to step into this stewarding role and would really appreciate your prayers — particularly for patience as I learn, wisdom in decision-making, courage to speak up, and yes… help remembering what all the keys are for!
