Getting to Know... Sharat Williams

This week the final of our three new stewards, Sharat Williams, tells us a little more about himself.

I have recently joined the Stewards Team and I am delighted and honoured with the opportunity of serving the Church.

Our family has been coming to High Street for about ten years since 2015 before our older son was born, who along with his younger brother, are now in the Choir.

I was born into a traditional Christian household, with parents and extended family elders who were founding members in the church where I grew up. Following through and leading by faith has been a natural way of life. After moving to the UK, wanting to continue being part of a similar community took a while, however finding High Street and worshipping here with Mark and other members felt like a natural second family through God’s guidance.

My faith in God has never let me down, especially during the toughest times in life thus far. When Mark reached out with the offer of an opportunity to serve in the Church as a Steward, it felt like God’s calling to accept - or rather, continue where I left off as a young person at the Church growing up. Giving back to the Church is just the right way to express that gratitude to God for his blessings.

I have had a career in Information Management and Strategy for over 30 years providing consultancy, and advice to all sizes of enterprise across the globe. Recently, I have switched gears and decided to challenge myself by building my own solutions for software at the cutting edge of Augmented Reality. I am a father of two and a husband, so family life keeps me on an even keel. I however indulge in a healthy craze for wearable gadgets, technology, and vehicles, where I try to acquire or at least test one out when I have the chance!

This new role provides me with an opportunity to get to know the Church, its members and the community it serves along with an understanding of how High Street works. Having the right guidance through the Stewards team and engaging with the teams associated with running the Church will allow me the knowledge and wisdom needed to serve as a Steward and Trustee.

Your prayers of guidance, wisdom, patience, and opportunity through God’s grace will be a blessing for my journey as a steward.
