High Street's Junior Choristers

Junior Choristers

“I like the experience of being able to sing with people of all ages.”

It’s been a delight over the past year to see our Junior Choristers flourish each Sunday morning at our 11am services. As well as staying for the first hymn, they have also joined the choir for special anthems on Harvest and Christmas - and are planning for upcoming Easter and Coronation services. We have seen them come to gather as a group as well as learning new skills.

It’s a relaxed arrangement: No mid-week rehearsals, we simply meet at 10:30am each Sunday before the service. It really is open for anyone who wants to join in, no ability to read music and no obligation to be there each week. Some our our members stay on from the 9:15 service, others stay for the 11am service. If you know someone who’s in Year 3 or above and would like to join, please get in touch!

Some of our Choristers say:

“I enjoy wearing the robes and standing with the choir. I have learnt lots of new hymns and new words.  Sometimes the choristers get to sing solos in anthems without the adults which is fun.”

“I like the experience of being able to sing with people of all ages.  I like being part of the church service and seeing more about what church is like. I feel like I have a role to play in church. I have made new friends and enjoy seeing everyone.”

“I like the way we learn to sing and I enjoy singing with the adult choir. It’s fun being in a group with the other choristers. I think other children would enjoy it as it’s good fun.”
