There is no Planet B: A Handbook for the Make or Break Years
by Mike Berners-Lee

There is no Planet B.  Given the challenges the earth faces, have you ever wondered what on earth you could do? Or what human values will help us navigate the challenges?  If so, then this book is highly recommended.  Using a systematic question and short answer format, the book helpfully paints a full picture of the state of the earth.

The author, Mike Berners-Lee, brother of web inventor Tim, is a professor at Lancaster University.  Interestingly, after answering questions on topics such as Food, Climate, Environment and Energy, he frames the challenges the earth faces in terms of our values.  This he says is the crunch point: which values help people and the planet thrive?  He argues that from an empirical, pragmatic, view, there are 3 key values we need to encourage: the equality of all people, respect and care for the earth, and respect for the truth.

This book is informed and thought provoking concerning the challenges our planet is facing: we have no Plan(et) B.  The book is well worth a read.
