Suggestions for Lent
Lent For Everyone by Tom Wright
During Lent in 2010, many people in the churches of North-East of England participated in ‘the Big Read’. Together they read through the gospel of Luke and discussed this guidebook by Tom Wright. Seemingly it was a big hit!
Each day’s read is no more than 3 or 4 pages including the Bible passage itself and over the course of Lent you will go through the whole of Lukes gospel. Each day includes biblical and pastoral comments and questions to mull over before finishing in prayer.
Lent With Luke by David Thomson
If you wish to take a more creative approach to your Lent reading this book comes highly recommended. David Thomson, who leads retreats around the country and is involved in the ministry of healing too, uses images and paintings to open up bible passages in a new way.
Reviewers noted how the daily readings not only stirred their hearts but their minds too. At the end of every week there are questions for home groups.
