Exploring Purpose at the Youth Weekend Away
Over the weekend (6th-8th March 2026) we had 16 young people joining in the activities and building connections with each other all at Burwell House in Cambridgeshire. Built in the late 1700s, this quirky house served us wonderfully. From roasting smores in their fire pit, to enjoying a roast in the conservatory/dining room. We were served all kinds of fantastic foods, special mention has to go to the Saturday night lasagne and the rocky road!
Each year we have a theme that we explore and since it is often a topic on young people’s hearts, we chose to explore ‘purpose’. There’s a lot of pressure we can put on ourselves to figure it out and sometimes we don’t know whether our hopes align with God’s purpose.
So with play dough, fire, sand, water, mirrors, shoe laces, paper, buckets and songs, we explored this big topic. We looked at how we view each other and ourselves, what we love and what we can bring, our hopes and plans that are held within God’s purpose for us and letting go of all that might get in the way.
We also loved getting to know one another better, especially by playing ‘Mr and Mrs’ and we loved the fun we have had!
Thanks to Ruth, Mike, Louise and Tiffany for joining me in supporting the weekend! Thanks to John and David from the Harpenden Hopper for getting us there! And a huge thank you to everyone who supported youth funds, your giving helps make things like this happen!!
