Getting to Know... Claire Lewis-Lim

This week we caught up with Claire Lewis-Lim, one of the talented musicians who plays at our informal services.

How are you involved with church life?

I am part of the 9:15am worship team and play violin in that service and at The Space sometimes too. I am a member of the Oasis homegroup which meets on a Monday lunchtime, and also currently serve on Church Council.

What does life look like for you outside church?
I am married to Chian and we have three grown up boys and a dog called Rosie. I have taught the violin for many years, and I am a member of a music group called Aeterna. There are 8 of us in the group altogether, including my husband Chian and Debs Willson, another of our worship leaders here at High Street. You can check out our You Tube channel: aeterna music UK

I have recently completed a Master's degree in community music and, going forward, I hope to do more work using music therapeutically. I love the great outdoors, and enjoy long coastal or countryside walks, swimming in the sea, kayaking, paddle boarding, and cycling. When I get time and have the opportunity,  I enjoy a good book, going to concerts and to the theatre, and also watching a film. One of my favourite things to do is to spend time with family and friends.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I would stop all wars and oppression of all kinds, sorry is that two?!

What helps you connect with God both in and outside church?
Lots of things, different at different times: music space, time, quiet, certain books, particular sermons, the Bible, a long dog walk, beautiful surroundings......
