Children’s Church Helper
This role is part in the church’s vision to see lives, relationships and communities transformed by the love of God.
At Children’s Church our aim is to have lots of fun discovering and experiencing the extraordinary love of God.
We will do this by exploring faith through the lens of Jesus using videos, music, games, prayer and craft.
Key volunteer activities:
Giving your availability for the rota each term.
Checking in with the leader for a quick briefing session before the church service begins.
Helping to get the activities ready and clear away where required.
Assisting with the register, checking there are the same number of children present to stickers on the register.
Working with other members of the Children’s Team to create a fun and safe environment for children up to the age of 11 to explore faith
Supporting the person leading the session by joining in as required with games, songs and other activities
Being willing to work through an activity or discussion with a small group of children if required.
Assisting with the safe collection of children through our pick-up label scheme and registers.
Being aware of and implementing as necessary our protocol for toilet visits and emergency evacuation.
The person doing this role needs to:
Complete an Enhanced DBS
Receive foundation safeguarding training within the first year of starting the role
Level of commitment:
Ideally helpers will be on rota once every 4-6 weeks
Training and support
Volunteers are supported by the Children’s Church leaders and helpers should seek their guidance if any concerns arise.
The Children’s Team may also host workshops and gatherings to encourage and equip the team from time to time.
Times:
Sunday mornings during the 9.15am or 11am services
