Sacred Rest
Do you wish to see rest as a positive gift for choosing your best life? If so, this is the aim of Saundra Dalton-Smith’s book. As a young mother and qualified medic, she guides our thinking on the importance of rest. Along the way, she highlights 7 different types of rest needed for us to thrive in our relationships and activities.
The book has 3 parts: ‘Why Rest?’ addresses why we need rest and the different types of rest. Here she helpfully shows that rest is more than not doing: it is restful, and therefore includes recovery. In part 2, ‘The Gifts of Rest’, the spiritual issues relating to the benefit of rest are illustrated more fully. Although part 3, ‘The Promises of Rest’ is only 5 pages long, here the author challenges us to make rest a priority in our lives for the benefit of others around us. The book comes highly recommended.
