Summer SHARE 2025

As summer approaches, many of us look forward to the school holidays, making plans to get away, visit family and friends, or simply enjoy days out.

However for some families, these small pleasures are just not possible. For them, what should be a time of memory-making is a time of just greater hardship. That’s why we are launching our Summer SHARE Appeal aiming to support families in our community in three key ways:

Activity Bags for Children
In partnership with a local school —where many children who receive free school meals and lack access to enriching activities during the long summer break—we will be providing activity bags, designed with the school’s guidance to keep children engaged and inspired during the summer. In addition we will also provide bags to some families that are known to the Share team.

Access to Summer Holiday Club
The school has also highlighted a number of children who may face the summer without meaningful stimulation or social interaction. We're aiming to fund places at a local summer club for these children, giving them the chance to play, learn, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.

Support for Families at Home
For a number of families already known to us, we’ll be offering food and craft bags as well as running some craft days, helping parents keep their children entertained while also easing some of the financial burden.

The Church would not to be able to offer this support without you. The more we raise, the more children we can help enjoy the kind of summer many of us take for granted.

Our Summer SHARE Appeal runs from Sunday 25 May to Sunday 29 June, and we would be incredibly grateful if you could donate—no matter how big or small. If you’re able, please consider adding Gift Aid, as this makes your donation go even further.

You can give online or send a cheque to the Office, payable to ‘Harpenden Methodist Church’, marking the envelope ‘Summer SHARE’.

Thank you for helping make this summer happier for local children and families who need it most.
