Could you Repair rather than replace?
The natural world reminds us that nothing is wasted in creation. Autumn leaves become spring’s fertile mulch and fallen trees rot to provide homes for insects and return nutrients to the soil. Yet in the UK we still buy and throw away an average of half a tonne of waste per year.
Repairing rather than replacing items:
extends the life of appliances, furniture, clothing and electronics
cuts down on landfill waste
reduces manufacturing emissions
saves money too!
Repair fairs and cafes are a great option and are held monthly in St Albans and Harpenden. To find out more, or to be a volunteer fixer find out more here.
God loves the Earth
God Said it was good
Our God loves this earth and calls us to love it too!
As part of our Eco Church initiative, we aim to encourage each other as individuals and households to care for the creation in our daily lives.
Starting in September, the Eco Lifestyle Team will share a monthly question or challenge to think about. Including suggestions that help us to make informed future choices whatever our starting point. Afterall, change starts with small steps.
If you could do or change one thing, what will yours be?
